http://service.sap.com/erp-ehp
--> How to install Enhancement Package 5 for SAP ERP 6.0. (middle section)
You will need a Solution Manager system and the ERP system connected to it. You can go directly to EHP5.

I have gone through ehp installation guide note .. 1304648
SP Equivalence Levels
- The SP equivalence levels for EhP5 SP01 are listed below. This
means that the correction levels are equivalent and also
determines your upgrade path to any enhancement package:
EhP5 SPS01 -- EhP4 SPS06 -- EhP3 SPS06 -- EhP2 SPS07 -- SAP ERP
6.0 SPS17.
I have some confusion about this? Can you please get rid of this ?
Maintaining to ERP 6.0 SPS17 is equal to ehp5 sp01 or
we have to upgrade the current erp6.0 to sp17 and then we have to perform the ehp5 sp01 ?

This means that the correction levels are equivalent Support Patch Correction and also determines your upgrade path to any enhancement package that means if you are ERP 6.0 SPS17 then you can directly go for upgrade to EhP5 SPS01. The technical criteria met to upgrade the system.
