Hello masters,
I want to patch Oracle from 10.2.0.4 to 10.2.0.8
and I have on the server primary and stby database.
Since it is first time when I do it, can you please give me some advices on how to do it ?
I need to patch Oracle on both, primary and stby.
Anything is welcomed,
Thanks in advance,
Jordan.

10.2.0.8? I doubt that this patch exists. The newest patch for Oracle 10g is 10.2.0.5.
Be aware though, that Oracle 10g is out of general support and that you need to pay an additional maintenance fee if you continue to use that version ( Note 1339724 - Oracle 10.2 Extended Support free until July 31, 2011 )

What exact patch do you want to apply?

Sorry,
I got lost in the numbers.
So,
I want to apply:
SAP Bundle Patch 10.2.0.4.8 - 201107
Current version is: SAP Bundle Patch 10.2.0.4.4 - 201007.
And you also suggest to go from 10.2.0.4.4 - 201007 to 10.2.0.5.4 - 201108
And if I do it, as the packages are cumulative, can I jump from 10.2.0.4.4 directly to 10.2.0.5.4 ?
Thanks Markus.

Hi Jordy,

You need to upgrade to Oracle 10.2.0.5, then apply the latest patch "10205_Patch10_MSWIN-x86-64" (for example, on MS Windows environment). You can find the "readme" instructions, in the patch files.

10.2.0.4 to 10.2.0.5 is a complete patch set, see Note 871735 - Current patch set for Oracle 10.2.0
I would
- install patchset 10.2.0.5
- install the latest SBP fro 10.2.0.5 ( Note 839182 - Installing patches using OPatch)
I would though plan an upgrade to 11.2.

@all:
So the conclusion is that I will have to update it from 10.2.0.4.4 to 10.2.0.5.4.
Is there anywhere placed some good way how to do it ? or some SAP note ?
I heard there are a lot of prerequisites that have to be met.
I will document my self tonight too I have to do it tomorrow evening
So please, any help is fantastic.
THANKS A LOT
Have a good day all.

You'd better update to 11.2.0.2 with the latest SBP.

I gave you two notes, one for the update to 10.2.0.5 and one for the patch on top of it, did you read them?
Markus
you should upgrade to Oracle 11g.
Oracle 10 is in phase out. read http://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/entry/ecs_10gr2_10204
