Hello Jamal

We are inspecting the same kind of samples like tap water, rinsing water, air etc. We use material type WETT (Competitors proructs), and have assigned material numbers 999000-999999 to this material type. WETT is not managed in batches like other material types we are using. So material 9990001 is by us, Tap Water, 9990002 Rinsing Water, 9990003 Waste Water and so on.

We create manual inspection lots (insp.type 89, insp.plan usage 3) for the samples, and identify them by using the short text field in the insp. lot. There are fairly strong search functionalities in SAP for this field.

For us this works perfectly.

Good luck

Hello Jan

Thanks for answering my question. According to your answer I create mm01 and material type WETT(competitors product), there is no QM data appear in organization level. It appear only Basic data1, Basic data2 and Classification. I am stuck. Let's see I have well water sample, what will be the steps to check the quality of water.

I used to maintain Quality inspection/calibration for equipment that needs configuration in IMG to assign inspection 14 with order type PM06. Please describe in detail...Thanks

My client is on my head and I have to sole this

Thanks. JA

Hi,

Go to OMS2 transaction and double click on the WETT(competitors product) material type, there you can select views what ever you want. Then try to create material in MM01.If you have any problem consult MM consultant once.

Here is a detailled set-up for water samples.

As Kuber says you have to open up the QM view for material type WETT in OMS2.

- Then you create a plant specific QM-view for your "Water" material in MM01.

- In the Inspection set-up you activate insp.type 89.

- Here you should tick "Inspection with task list", "Automatic assignment" and "Check Chars".

- In QP01 create an inspection plan for the material/plant.

- In the Header set Usage 3 and Status 4.

- Then goto "Operations"

- Fill in the appropriate WorkCenter with control key QM01

- Select the operation and click on "Inspection Characterietics"

- Fill in the inspection characteristics you want to inspect. If you have a number of characteristics that you not allways check, you should make the characeristics optional (not required).

-Save

The inspection plan is now completed and ready for use.

You create the inspection lot for the sample in QM01. Use the short text field (40 char) for information like date, sample number etc. This field you can use as selection criteria in QE51N when you want to do results recording.

Good luck!

Hi,

If we consider something like Water in a Tank , Here tank can be an equipment and water is component of the tank which is regularly consumed , replaced with new water .. then

1. Then u can try to do inspection of Tank using Calibration order ..PM06 or u can have ur own order type

2. U need to assign inspection type 14 to this order type

3. For business process steps follow the below link :- http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46c/helpdata/en/fe/67f9609d6f11d189b60000e829fbbd/frameset.htm

MP for Calibration testing ..

4. Else u can create a tasklist with operations assigned to inspection charac , inspection characteristics are created in QS21

You can use this tasklist directly in PM06 Calibration order , thus while releasing the Calibration order inspection Lot gets triggered and results recording via QE11 , Usage decision -QA11

5. For defect recording do settings in SPRO ->QM ->Quality Notification ->Defect recording ->Define Notification type ->Define Notification type for Inspection type , Here for Inspection type 14 mention notification type

Thus as per defect recording notification is generated ..

HI,

It's not I am looking for tank inspection or quality of tank. I am looking for water quality, for example a well water or lake water to be supplied to water treatment plant and city or municipality wants to check the condition or quality of water to make sure water is not pollutant, bacteria and nitrate, hardness, alkalinity, pH, chlorine and contamination etc to meet the safety standard water quality for drinking. Is it possible to check by SAP Plant maintenance/QM. I hope you have better idea about my question...Thanks

I guess, you can go only with QM. Create the MICs for those characteristics either with Quantitative or Qualitative settings. For Quantitative, you can maintain upper & lower values.

For pH, Chlorine level kind of quantitative things, you can go for quantitative MICs.

Create MICs in QS21. Create sampling procedure.

Check with QM specialist on QM at Goods Receipt. You can form your logic for your requirements.

Hi,

1. In addition to the above .. you can maintain activate QM Tab in MM02 and maintain inspection type having inspection origin as 01 - Generation of Inspection Lot while doing GR for PO ..

2. In config in spro ->QM ->Quality Inspection ->Inspection Lot creation -> Maintain Inspection types .., Assign inspection types to Inspection Lot origins .. , In the inspection type if u mention : Post to Inspection stock, then while doing GR stock gets , inspection lot gets created and stock will in inspection stock , later u can carry out inspection with differnt inspection characteristics , do a results recording, defects recording, usage decision . Once Lot is passed u can transfer the quantity from insection stock to un-restricted stock via transfer posting using MB1B using mvt type 321 , else if Usage decision is not OK then u can put it blocked stock

3. Later if u want to issue this water to tank , then i believe Tank should be created as eqpt , and you need to create a MO and do a GI via 261 movement

Hi KP,

Thanks for answering my question, still I have one confusion as you said maintain activity in mm02. You mean I create product/material like water sample through( mm01) and what will be the material type??? and maintain inspection type. Please explain little more.... I understand, GR, movement type, and usage decision etc. Its only checking the water quality to make sure the quality is maintained for drinking

Thanks for your feed back

Create material for Water. Activate Quality Management view in that. There you can find Inspection Setup. Maintain the Inspection type for 05 - Inspection at GR.

Then maintain Sampling procedure. You can create Sampling procedure in QDV1.
