SAP ME Web services question

Hi,

I was going through the web services guide and it was mentioned to choose HTTPS as Transport protocol in security tab. My question is in our environment the transport protocol is setup as HTTP, on what basis the choice is made here to go with HTTP & HTTPS

HTTPS is more secure. I don't think there is any other reasoning.
