Hello,
We identified such problem, when data is deleted from SAP BI structures (InfoCubes, DataStoredObjects (DSO)) the space in database is not cleared out and the new space for newly loaded data is distinguished (we are running out of free space in hard disks). How we can avoid this situation? What has to be done that then deleting data from SAP BI structures via SAP GUI interface, data would be deleted from database and newly uploaded data into SAP BI would be recorded into previously used space?
System information:
DB on HP-UX, application - Windows x64.
DB: Oracle 11.2.0.2
Application: NW 7.00 BI_CONT 703
Thank you in advance.
Kind Regards,
Arunas Stonys
Hi Arunas,
Could you clarify how you drop existing BI objects? Are you checking the freespace on DB02 or Brtools? After you drop these objects, are you refreshing the statistics on DB02 tx? This is because DB02 values will not be updated as soon as you dropped the objects.
Best regards,

Hi Orkun,

Hi Arunas,
I am just asking this in order to be sure about the status that did you checked these cubes and ODS objects and their content are accessible on SE16, after you dropped these objects?
Best regards,
Orkun Gedik
Hi Arunas,
As you know that from database point of view, if you are sure that you deleted these objects and not able to see records related by InfoCube and ODS objects on SE16, there might be a problem with your analyzing tool.
I recommend you use, DB02 (after you refresh the statistics of course) or BR*Tools in order to find freespace on your database.
Additionally, you can cross check with ST04 -> Space -> Additional Functions -> BW Analysis

Hi Orkun,
then data is deleted from BI store objects related tables are empty, but table spaces are not emptied (refresh in DB02 done), they use the same amount with data and we need increase table space storage for newly data that must be loaded into SAP BI. Why table spaces are not emptied after data deletion?

In order to talk on the same path, are you checking this value by "DB02 -> Space -> Tablespaces -> Overview" under "Main Data" tab, Free(MB) column? Not Size(MB)
If you are looking to the value that I've noted, above, could you execute the command at the OS level and compare the freespace value. This step will be double check.
brspace -u / -f dbshow -c tsinfo
