Im asked to remove the availability check at SO level. Though, I strongly do not suggest this as thats one of SAP's benefits to have availability check.

What are the disadvantages, if anyone can help to point: the first one which I'm sure there are many more.

1. Have to manually enter schedule line for each line item

2.

3.

4.

Hi

If i am correct then after entering the quantity for line items system must asking you to do availability check.

You can do it by removing the checkbox at VOV6 of the schedule line. But at the same time the user wouldonot know the stock of the material, and can book as many Sales order as possible for the material.

So at the VL01N user has to look which Storage Location stock is lay in.

Thanks

Hi,

The sales requirements will not be considered if the availabilty check is removed from the sales order.

Here after system will consider the confirmed the quantity. But actually the stock will not be there and we will be confirming wrong delivery date to the customer.

Sales Order is actually is the trigger for Sales order confirmation mentioning when the goods will be delivered.

It determines if the required delivery quantity can be met on a required delivery date. For this purpose the system takes into account pre-delivery activities such as scheduling for picking or packing times and the time taken to produce or obtain the material. It also performs several background functions such as Backorder processing, rescheduling and ATP quantities.

Your initial question is somewhat unclear to me.

The main disadvantage of turning off the ATP check is that the system will confirm requirements quantities when there may not be enough stock / receipt quantities to cover these requirements. For example, You have 200 in stock with no receipts. A sales order is created for 500. Without an ATP check, 500 will be confirmed. Would you really want this situation? This is the first thing you need to consider with the business.

Hi,

Through VOV4, you can restrict the item categories populated according to sales order type. Based on that item category, you can determine a schedule line category in VOV5 which doesnt have availability check.

Hi,

Your point 1 is not correct. Even if availability check is OFF (or deactivated), if schedule lines are allowed via configuration in VOV7, then schedule lines shall be populated, in your sales order. The confirmed quantity shall be always OK, as there is no avail. check.

A. Ask the business why they don't want avail. check? There are many options and finetuning could be done in SAP w.r.t A check.

B. Business shall commit to customers about selling material which business can not delivery at agreed date. Thus causing customer dissatisfaction and maybe fines.
