Difference between reports /SAPTRX/EE_MONITOR and /SAPTRX/EE_MONITOR_PACK

Hi All

Could you please explain what is teh difference between the reports /SAPTRX/EE_MONITOR and /SAPTRX/EE_MONITOR_PACK? The requirement is to process Overdue records which are in abcklog with huge volumes.

Please suggest an efficient way to clear the backlog soon. We have been running the report /SAPTRX/EE_MONITOR for each internal event code but each run for 1000 records is taking around 1000 sec. Due to this it is taking longer time to clear the back log.

SAP provided /SAPTRX/EE_MONITOR_PACK as an alternative to /SAPTRX/EE_MONITOR due to performance reasons. /SAPTRX/EE_MONITOR_PACK allows you to process chunks of overdue events at a time and ensures that the program doesn't run too long. Run /SAPTRX/EE_MONITOR_PACK as often as needed to get the backlog done and then schedule it to run every 5-15 minutes depending on your requirements.

Thanks for your suggestion. But to run thsi report /SAPTRX/EE_MONITOR_PACK, we are not getting selection screen to maintain variant. FYI, we are using the version SCM 7.0 with level 0005. It is strange that in Dev/Qual systems we are getting the selection screen for this report but not in Prod system.

Hi Ravi,

this is controlled by user parameter /SAPTRX/EE_MON_SEL.

Only if this parameter is set you see the selection screen.

Thank you. We maintained the user parameter as you suggested. But still we are not getting the selection screen. When we press F8, it is continuously running without going to further screen. Please suggest.

Please let me know whether we can use /SAPTRX/EE_MONITOR_PACK to process loads of overdue events instead of /SAPTRX/EE_MONITOR. We are using SAP SCM 7.0 and some thing was mentioned that the program is obsolete.

We have to clear the backlog very soon to make the system useful.

Hi Ravi,

is note 1516463 already in your system?

In principle you should the report without any selection criteria running every 10-20 minutes.

Only for cases where you have a big amount of overdue events it is recommended to restrict the data and use selection criteria.

Yes, we have large number fo events to be processed and thought of using the report /SAPTRX/EE_MONITOR_PACK instead of /SAPTRX/EE_MONITOR as /SAPTRX/EE_MONITOR is taking more time to clear the back log.

Please confirm whether we can use /SAPTRX/EE_MONITOR_PACK to clear the huge backlog efficiently.

Yes therefore you can use it. The mentioned note should be installed.

After the backlog is processed you should schedule the one without selection criteria regularly.

Your suggestions resolved our issue. After upgradation to 7.01, we could run this report /SAPTRX/EE_MONITOR_PACK without implementing the note.
