saplocales for IBM i (installation of SAP ERP)

Hello gurus,

I will install a SAP ERP 6.0 very soon in OS/400 with DB2, I mean IBM i (IBM i5/OS) with IBM DB2 for i (IBM DB2 for i5/OS)... now I´m reading the installation guide in way to prepare the installation... but I´m with a doubt regarding saplocales in this type of platform, because this is mentioned in installation guide at Software Requirements, it said:

National Language Support (NLS)
Make sure that National Language Support (NLS) and corresponding saplocales are installed

The NLS is already installed but I don´t understand what they want to say with "saplocales"... I only found sap notes with this saplocales but for LINUX platforms... this is the reason for my doubts!

Can you clarify me if there is some notes that explain the saplocales for IBM i...?! If so, where I can find this files for IBM i...?

Thank you,

João Dimas - Portugal

Hello João,

when NLS is installed, it is perfect. Please ignore the rest, as you will install unicode and then it is no longer needed to ensure more locales ...

So, it will just work when you install the system.

I hope, you are installing ERP6.05 - that is a really nice installation with NW 7.02 and a native installation on iSeries with VNC - soooooo much nicer than the combined windows/iSeries installation stuff of the past ...

Hello Volker,

Hum I see... Ok Ok!... as I imagine...

So thank you very much for your information Volker!

Yes, that is what I want to do... I will perform first a installation on sap version ECC 6.0 SR3, after I will upgrade it to EHP3 (for the activation of Baseline Package) and so after that, I will do another upgrade to EHP5 (NW 7.02).

Kind regards,
