AMI Gas Module Set up

Hi

We are trying to implement AMI with AMI Gas module as seperate peice of equipment which will be fitted with existing GAS meter. This module main function is only to get meter reading remotely with existing meter serial number. Please guide how to set up in Device management, under what category, etc. This need to be tracked for movements and location where these were installed.

Thanks

Prasad

Hi Prasad,

we had faced a similar problem with our meters.

These meters were normal meters having an external equipment attached to them which made them AMI compatible.

For this we didn't maintain any device category for the AMI equipment but mapped it with the device itself. We activated a switch APPL_UID_UI. This gave us 3 fields which we then mapped to our requirements.

UII mapped to a unique code for the AMI equipment,

IUID Type mapped to the the type of the UII

Plant UII The plant code

you can check this thread.

Do post on how you later decide on implementing your scenario.

Cheers,

Rakesh..

Prasad,

we will go with gas meter and gas com module will be grouped via device group.

Hope this helps,

Hi Tom

Can you please explain little eloborate how to configure. Rakesh idea is also not bad but only issue is these AMI Devices are to be maintained out side as just equipment If I use UID concept.

Appreciate your help.

Prasad

Prasad,

This would be my blueprint design - Gas Comm. modules record and communicate gas consumption with respect to time, provide data used by billing, and are associated with customers and service locations. Gas Comm. modules also have remote operation functions which are to be presented by SAP AMI functionalities for Devices. The Gas Comm. modules are designed as ISU Devices, with AMI functionalities added.

Gas Comm. modules will be related to the existing gas meters through Device Grouping. Gas meters will remain as non-AMI Devices and Gas Comm. modules will be created as AMI devices. Register assignment in SAP will be done to the Gas Comm. Modules.

Based on client specifics, you might design your realization.

Thanks,

Tom
