How to set AMOUNT_MEMORY on NW 7.3 java

Hi everyone, it's been a while since I have been on SDN, hopefully I posted this in the correct place.

We are building some sandpit systems for a new project. To save on hardware I am running the following 3 instances on 1 virtual host (they are sandpits after all).

NW 7.3 JAVA

NW 7.3 ABAP

ERP 6 with EHP5.

The problem I have is that the NW 7.3 Java is using all the servers RAM.

In the past I have used the abap parameter PHYS_MEMSIZE to throttle back the usage of the memory.

There seems to be a parameter for the NW 7.3 JAVA named "AMOUNT_MEMORY", which I need to reduce.

But, I can't work out how to change it in the config tool or should it be added to the default.pfl or SCS or Jnn instance profile?

regards

Tony Lewis

What have you put for maxHeapSize in the configtool?

HI Mark and others,

I ended up logging with SAP, they told me the AMOUNT_MEMORY parameters should not be changed.

They also checked my java memory parameters which were OK.

They then said it must be an O/S issue.

This server runs under VMWARE, our O/S support guys said they think it is a VMWARE Ballooning issue !!

The sap systems are running OK, but the memory usage on the O/S is still high.

Since the systems are running OK and it is only a sandpit system, we are just leaving it as is.

The real systems (IE Dev/QA etc) are running fine on their hardware

regards

Tony.
