When to increment product vesrion and SWC version

We have started the phase 1 of SAP PI project (not a product based development) with Product version 1.0 and Software Component version 1.0. When will I have the need to increment the version for product and SWC?

When phase2 development starts? If I increment the version, will both version co-exist?

Please advise

IMO, you dont need to increase the product and swc version at all. You can go even Phase 1 and 2 with the same version. If your first version is not compatible with second version or something similar case, you might increase the version. In general you dont need to do. This is my few cents.

I agree with Baskar.

Software Component Version: Represents a particular version of a software component (and not a project's phase).

Hi,

I second the other expert opinions. The versioning is more relevant in a product development environment rather than in a project development environment. For example you are creating mapping content that you want to get certified with ICC (SAP), then versioning is relevant.
