Diff between WebDynpro for ABAP and HCM Processes & Forms

Dear All/Experts,

I want the opinion from the forum on the differences between WD4ABAP and HCM Processes & Forms:

- if i want to propose a solution for a custom scenario, what that makes me to opt WDA or HCM P&F

- what are the actual technical differences, pros-cons, limitations & challenges when considered both

- let me know if there are any blogs or articles or forum-threads on it

Hi MS,

HCM P & F framework applications are developed using Webdynpro for ABAP. Also it comes with following advantages:

- You can use standard services like SAP_PA, SAP_PD to carry out CRUD operation on infotypes.

- Workflow is already integrated with the framework and also SAP delivers standard tasks and some workflow templates, which you can easily reuse(copy) in your process.

- Process configuration is simple

- Standard applications are available to search/review the status of process in portal(HR administrator Role).

- Usability is good, as the UI looks the same across processes.

If you want to create process using WDA, you are just duplicating the effort by writing application/code for all the above advantages already provided by SAP.

Thanks to both for giving useful information! Considering some factors we've decided to go for WDA application development which might me a chanllange in development using P&F. The below thread also clarifies one of my doubts that we can use WD components from the Adobe interface:

Hi Munna,

WDA & HCM PF both are tightly integrated. AWedbynpro Component(HRASR00_PROCESS_EXECUTE) carries the whole HCM PF.

HCM Process and forms, closely integrated with WDA, Adobe interactive forms and workflow.

With use of HCM Process and forms, you can achieve workflow based approval process on online and also it provides the forms as PDF. So its easily achieve the approval processes.

When you are going to develop this type approval process, you need to configure all other suffs for integrating. Its highly complex.
