Hi,

create /oracle/DEV/sapdata2 with enough space.

Use brtools to extend tablespaces with new datafiles on sapdata2

Try to extend the file system from your Volume group.

For time being you can share with some other file system but it will create data loss when u disconnect from it.

sorry, the original question was not very clear as well

So, do NOT create a /oracle/DEV/sapdata2 filesystem, as you already have one.

Disable autoextend of the datafiles on sapdata1.

If needed, create additional new datafiles on a sapdataX of your choice, that has enough free space.

brtools is menu driven.

For switching autoextend of, you need to go the "alter datafile" section.

For adding datafiles, you need to go to the "extend tablespace" section.

Some of the actions which are possible in brtools may damage your DB if not executed in the proper context.

So before you try to click around in brtools, I strongly recommend to invest some 60 minutes

into reading the very good documentation of brtools on help.sap.com.

Hi Daniel,

To avoid this issue, you can either turn off the autoextend off for all the datafiles/tablespaces or you can move some of the datafiles to the other filesystems.

These can be done using the BRTools. You can turn off the autoextend online(no need to bounce the DB) but in case if you would like to move the datafiles you have to bounce the DB.

Hope this helps.

hi Daniel,

Go to BRTOOLS,

Space Management ->

Extend Tablespace ->

Enter the u201CTablespace nameu201D, where you want to add the datafile u2013 Option 3

continue (c)

Select u201CMaximum file size in MBu201D u2013 Option 7

Like wise continue with the steps

Before addaing the datafile make sure to you have enough space.

If you have Standby Server, check the configuration as well.

standby_file_management = AUTO

Well,

this will turn off autoextend for the file that extends the TS, not for those already belonging to the TS.

Any reason why you oppose to my suggestion to read the documentation.

It is not that hard, you learn how to do it yourself, and you'll get a reliable source.

So here we go:

http://help.sap.com

SAP-Solutions -> Netweaver -> Select the next best English Documentation

A new window opens with a search field in the upper right. Enter

"brspace autoextend maintain"

And you will only get two hits, of which the first one is:

"Altering a datafile with brtools"

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp2/helpdata/en/f1/5e863f06593a17e10000000a114084/frameset.htm

Hope this helps
