Dear All,

We are using sap ecc6.0 on windows 2008 server r2 with database sql server 2008.

Our transaction log disk is full, hence tried to take a backup using microsoft sql server mangment studio

>database>(sap instance)>right click> tasks>backup>selected our instance as DATABASE>

backup type - transaction log>seleted destination backup set to > disk where we had enough place

Backup size was around 24 gb. But after backup it shows backup file of nearly 5GB on backup destination

Transaction log disk is still not truncated and disk space is full even after backup. Please advice

Best Regards

Hi

After completed of Transaction log backup you have to run the truncated log more than one or two time then you will be getting the disk space. In the process if you are failed. You have to do the manually process to get back the unused space .for that you have to follow the below steps

After complete of the truncated log, go to MS Sql Management studio select the database (Sid name) right click select the task go to shrink under the shrink windows select the file type log, shrink action release unused space and the press ok it will release the disk space
