Hello,
OS - Windows 2008
Database - SQL Server 2008 (R2)
Yesterday I finished the upgrade from SAP ERP 6.0 EHP3 to EHP5.
During this process the EHP Installer also did a kernel upgrade from 700 to 720... but now the SAP MMC show a error, the igswd.EXE is with Stopped status!
Can you help me to solve this problem?
______
Another thing... I went to AL11 to see some parameters and there I saw this:
DIR_PUT = E:\usr\sap\DEV\EHPI\abap
DIR_CT_RUN = E:\usr\sap\DEV\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64
DIR_EXE_ROOT = E:\usr\sap\DEV\SYS\exe
Anything wrong here? The DIR_PUT isnu00B4t right...am I correct?
Kind regards,

Hello,
Sometimes the integrated IGS (on Windows platforms) in the management console cannot be started due to an invalid (overlong) start profile entry.
The following SAP Note shall be helpful in resolving the issue:
Note 824281 - igswd does not start due to an incorrect start profile entry

Hello RikiDas,
I guess that note is not for my version... in note it said version 6.40.
I will post here what I see in Start Profile:
SAPSYSTEMNAME DEV
SAPGLOBALHOST SRVSIAPP04
SAPSYSTEM 00
INSTANCE_NAME DVEBMGS00
DIR_CT_RUN $(DIR_EXE_ROOT)$(OS_UNICODE)NTAMD64
DIR_EXECUTABLE $(DIR_INSTANCE)exe
DIR_PROFILE $(DIR_INSTALL)profile
_PF $(DIR_PROFILE)DEV_DVEBMGS00_SRVSIAPP04
Start_Program_00 immediate $(DIR_CT_RUN)sapcpe$(FT_EXE) pf=$(_PF)
_DB $(DIR_CT_RUN)strdbs.cmd
Start_Program_01 immediate $(_DB) DEV
_MS $(DIR_EXECUTABLE)msg_server$(FT_EXE)
Start_Program_02 local $(_MS) pf=$(_PF)
_DW $(DIR_EXECUTABLE)disp+work$(FT_EXE)
Start_Program_03 local $(_DW) pf=$(_PF)
_IG $(DIR_EXECUTABLE)igswd$(FT_EXE)
Start_Program_04 local $(_IG) -mode=profile pf=$(_PF)

Yeah Sunny Pahuja,
But now one thing that seems strange to me... Some minutes ago I tried to update the kernel files for the latest kernel patch version but after start the system I see that nothing changed... this has the same Kernel version... I guess some sap parameters were changed during the EHP upgrade (with EHP Installer).
Any tip...?!

Hi,
In your case it seems that kernel files of only central location is updated where as local kernel files are still referring to old version. Thats the reason when you starting SAP instance sapcpe.exe is replication files between local and central location and in turn reverting to old kernel state.
Could you please check if on both the locations (/sapmnt/SID/exe and /usr/sap/SID/Dxx/exe) you have updated kernel executables of 720 rel.?
Cheers!!!
Ashish
Ok Ashish Mishra, this was solved by a manually copy of the same new kernel files in that both locations (\usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64 and \usr\sap\<SID>\DVEBMGS00\exe)! But tell me just one thing... like I said above, I resolved this issue through a manual copy to both locations, but if in the future, we have to do another kernel update, can I do that just copying the new files to one location, to \usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64? ... or I'll be back with the same problem?
Thank you
