Windows Pagefile Configuration in 2008 R2 significantly reduced?

Have any of you Basis SMEs experienced significantly lower page file sizes after migrating from Windows 2003 to 2008? We are assessing our VMware configurations and storage requirements and wanted to get additional validation of our original sizing estimates.

Hi Joe,

If you are working on SAP in VMWARE, then i suggest you review Notes:

Note 1056052 - Windows VMware ESX or vsphere configuration guidelines

Note 1002587 - Flat Memory Model on Windows

Note 1409608 - Virtualization on Windows

Also Please explain your question little briefly, thanks.

Regards.

Thanks for the notes. The flat memory model review was helpful. In our efforts to rightsize the environments that are migrating from physical to virtual we need to understand the pagefile requirements clearly to produce cost estimates. The prior 1.5 x RAM initial setting will produce a number of large pagefiles that will result in higher storage costs.

Have you experienced a reduction in pagefile size requirements after moving from Windows 2003 to 2008?
