- Do I need to perform support package upgrade before initial and basic configuration and then configure mopz.

- If yes to which sp level shall I upgrade, will sps 26 be sufficient?

hello ,

If you have issues with Maintenance Optimizer because you haven't configured the basic functions needed, you can always use the http://service.sap.com/sp-stacks -> Support Package and side effect report download tool in the marketplace. Solution Manager stacks can be downloaded from there, once you put the stack in your download basket you need to approve it with a message under SV-SMG-MAI-APR.

Best regards,

Hi Miguel,

Thank you for information which I feel is important.

I am currently downloading sps26 via download manager. I used the same procedure to get the approval from SAP that you specified.

I mainly wanted the answer for the question " Is it necessary to upgrade solman 7.01 before configuring it or we can do configuration with out upgrading it ?"

Thank You,

Hi,

As we said it is not mandatory to upgrade. But it is always recommended to have system on latest stack. As far as your question is concerned, you can do the configuration after or before upgrade. But reason why I asked to do upgrade before configuration is because it might possible that after upgrade you will face some issues, if you will do config after upgrade then you can test the same as well. So, you can avoid your efforts twice.

Thanks

Sunny

Hi Varun Satyarthi

The best approach is the following for your case

1) Upgrade your solman system to SP27 ABAP/JAVA

2) Execute complete SOLMAN_SETUP Initial/Basic/Managed.

HI,

Thank you all for the answers you gave to me.

I am now more clear that why it is good to upgrade before doing any configuration in solman 7.01.

Hi Sunny,

Thanks for reply

So as you said I should upgrade to n-1 level i.e current available stack is 27 so sps 26 will do.

You didnt answer my first question.

Do i need to do upgradation before initial, basic configuration and other activities like mopz configuration

Thanks and regards,

Hi,

Better if you will update it before doing initial and other configuration.

Thanks

Hi Sunny,

So it means its not hard and fast that we must upgrade.

But it is better to update and then do the configuration.

Thanks,
