If you have only a document number and you know that it is a sales document but you do not know what specific type of sales document it is, how can you check it on SAP so that you can retrieve it?
Is there a tcode where you can check this?
Is there something like "universal" report (on SAP) where you can check this?
No. There is no universal report to check based on Document number.
Go to Table views.
If you know it is a Sales Documents then go to SE16N & access Table VBAK. Enter the Document Number in Sales Document feild & execute. System will give you details of the actual Sales Document Type, Category (Contract, Sales Order, Etc) & so on...
LIkewise access table LIKP fpr Delivery documents & VBRK for Billing documents.
Hope this clarifies,
