Hello Kalyan,

Its recommended to run the PCs at night time (midnight), when users are not blocking the planning area. If you have users in American continent then try to extend the timings in late GMT.

Details regarding process chain can be found under this[ link|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/8f/c08b3baaa59649e10000000a11402f/content.htm].

Standard Procedure for Triggering the Process chains are through Back Ground process(Scheduled). It depends on which extractor do you want to extract the DATA either Standard LO or Generic or COPA extractor. In case of the LO the Deltas can scheduled based on the back ground job and see whether USER doesnt LOCK the DATA( Especially during the off peak times the DATA are Loaded). Generic you can extract at any time(Suggested that u extract during the Off Peak Hours).

Kalyan,

1._Process chains_ are used to schedule Batch jobs. Process chains achieve the same objective as scheduling jobs in background using SM37, but with lot more flexibility when it comes to handling dependencies between jobs and its more easy to do prodution support and maintenance using Process chains.

2. TIMING: Well the timing of the process chains depends on the type of process step/activity you are trying to run. If the step is something that cannot run when the data is locked by the user, then since you are telling your client is in UK, its better to run when the end users are not working on the system..i.e, UK night time. But if the process step/Job can be executed independent of user activity in the system, then you can schedule it anytime. The preferred approach is to schedule a chain when the system load is less OR when there is not much user activity, for example during weekends or as nightly jobs.
