Planning Consumption by length, eg Bar Stock in Metal Fabrication Industry

Hello,

Does anyone have experience of using SNP/CTM for planning decisions of optimum raw material lengths to use for production?

Eg. whether to use 2 x 2m metal bar stock or 1 x 4m bar stock.

How should raw material inventory best be managed to support this?

We use only CTM at the moment in a discrete manufacturing environment so this is something new.

for that I would recommend to use Characteristics-Dependent Planning (CDP)

CTM can now also do Planning with Characteristics.
