Backup Time is very high in Tivoli

Dear Experts,

We have a situation regarding backup :

We have scheduled 2 daily backups of the PRD system. Offline backup to LTO and another online backup to Tivoli (TSM).

The offline backup with no verification and the Function : '-cds', has been scheduled at 23:30 hours, it takes about 36 minutes.

The online backup with verification and the Function : '-cds', has been scheduled at 03:00 hours, it takes about 6 hours duration.

The first problem is the time taken in Online is very high also the Tivoli system starts Library sharing process to our PRD system at about 23:00 hours.

Can anybody share any light in this matter. I just want to know that is there anything can be done from SAP part to prevent the library sharing process?

Hi,

1. You can check if there are other scheduled backups that run at the same time while your online backup starts at 03:00 hrs.

2. Try checking the network speed at which the files are being written .

3. If possible, try to schedule a backup during another suitable time and have the verification option disabled and compare the backup runtime to better understand the possile reasons.

Are the files compressed before they are wriiten ?
