SAP Netweaver Installation

Hi SAP Gurus

I am new to SAP so please forgive these newbie questions.

Question 1:

I installed SAP DreamWeaver Trial on a WinXP virtual machine. I see that on C-drive a folder has been created called "sapdb". What exactly is in this folder?

Question 2:

Has a database been installed on my hard disk?

Question 3:

If yes, what db format is it? Oracle? MS SQL Server? MYSQL?

Question 4:

Why isn't there a newbie forum category?

Thanks,

SAP Newbie

Hi,

- sapdb stands for MaxDB which is a database software created by SAP analogous to MSSQL, Oracle etc. But it has its own format. For more info on MaxDB check http://maxdb.sap.com/training/administration_7.6/MaxDB-Admin-All.pdf.

This folder should contain database, executables and runtime components for the DB software to function properly.

- regarding database installation - it depends if the Dreamweaver installation installed the database as well. Check under the C:\sapdb - if a directory with data and log subdirectories as created. If so then DB is also installed.

Regards,

Srikishan
