Does SAP supports direct installation of Oracle 11gR2 with ASM?

I read the white papers about ASM + Oracle 11gR2 RAC for SAP, which said direct installation is not possible.

But does SAP support direct installation of Oracle 11gR2 single instance with ASM?

Hi Andrew,

As of now there is no direct installation possible.

Note 1550133 - Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM)

The following restrictions currently apply:

"Run-time" Certification

ASM is certified for SAP as "run-time" certification. This means that at the moment SAPINST does not yet support new SAP installations with ASM. To use ASM now, you have to migrate your database to ASM manually. The migration procedure is described in the technical white paper "Moving your SAP database to Oracle 11gR2 ASM".

Hi Venky,

thank you very much for point this out.

So If i want to build an SAP system with Oracle 11gR2 RAC + ASM, i have to follow the steps:

1. install SAP with Oracle 11gR2 Single Instance

2. migrate to ASM

3. migrate to RAC

is this correct?
