NWDS Installation / Configuration

Hi Folks,

Can some please guide me how to install NWDS software.Please tell me what are the prerequisites and what are the relevant components to be downloaded from market place.

My EP system is NW 7.01 SP3 - NWDS software also should be the same or lesser version than EP?? please clarify.

Also I read in some forum link that we require NWDS work around file but I could not locate them any where in sap market place. Please guide me where i can download them.

You can extract this file using

SAPCAR -xvf JIDE03P_1-10006114.SAR

Inside the extraced SAR you will find an installer, the rest should be pretty straightforward.

Most likely by the "workaround-file" the SAPCAR extractor itself was meant. You find it here:

I don't know of any other resource necessary for the installation of NWDS 701.

NWDS 701 is allowed to be installed only on windows XP 32BIT, for this please refer to the note:

#1225606 -- Platform Restrictions f. NetWeaver Developer Studio 2.x-7.0x (this also includes EHPs)

The JDK to be used is JDK1.4.2_<XX>, only JRE is not supported.

Yes we recommend that NWDS is equal to the runtime system where you intend to deploy, but not higher than the runtime system. See also the guide which also includes NWDS and explains how to deal with release and SP versions in development:

Thanks much for the detailed information. My apologies for delayed response.

I have downloaded the NWDS SW 32 bit component JIDE03P_1-10006114.SAR and extracted . I got J2EE-RUNT-CD with all extracted components however when i try to click IDE70setup then SAP Installation GUI screen just open and disappear immediately with in few seconds.

I could not find any errors either.. I have installed j2sdk1.4.2_27 and set environment variable JAVA_HOME but no luck.

Also I have downloaded NWDS DVD : 51037094 As suggested by my colleague but that one also not helpful.

When I access 1037094\IM_WINDOWS_I386\sapinst it is giving me below error while reading the contorl.xml file.

SAP NW Developer Workplace --> SAP NW 7.01 Developer Studio -->

Run a New option -> Then Process terminates with below error.

I did not find any clue on how to fix this issue or which component should i go for NWDS.

Can some one please let me know what is the compatible JAVA plug-in required for NWDS 7.01. I am trying to install NWDS on my desktop XP SP3.

NWDS installation screen blinks and disappear. Please let me know what is the consistent JDK / JRE required.

Compatible version of the JDK for NWDS 7.01 is JDK 1.4.2_X (X is 0 to 20..). You can download the JDK 1.4.2_X and install in the system before stating instation of the NWDS.
