Hi guys,

I created a Data type and saved it ,now I want to change the name of Data type but it is not allowing me to do.

how can I change the name if Data type in SAP XI.

Hi Kuna,

You cannot change the name of the datatype.If you want to preserve the data, then make a copy of the first datatype, and give the name you want to, for the copy. Save the copy, and then delete the first data type.

Hi,

Are you sure there is no edit mode in which I can delete the data type and change the name?

There are edit tabs on XI screen

Or is there some way to reject the saved things??

You can recreate it or copy it. While copying you can change the new name. Otherwise you can not rename it. Good option is copy it, while copying change the name

And how do we copy it ?

Since when I right click it I get copy object but it does not ask me by what name should I copy it .

Right Click ->Copy Object ->one popup window will come , there choose same SWC and namespace and give different name.

Open Data type , then go to Menu and try to edit it. Is it allowing you to edit ?

If not try to create a new data type

Ok cool I had to click copy object icon ,,,

there were so many copy objects.

now how to delete original one?

right click delete or open the data type and from menu, you can delete provided that data type is not used anywhere.
