Looks like powerpc is big endian so it is definitely a heterogenous system copy since linux x86 is small endian.

You will need a certified guy as you might be aware you will need to use R3load.

Thanks Ambrish.. thats what i was looking..

But still have one doubt, SAP says that if changing OS or Database is the migartion. but here seems it is Hardware change and then linux flavour change from redhat to suse.

is it still OS Migration and requires migration service.

Even the architecture change comes as a migration since you are moving from big endian to small endian.Yes you would need a certified guy and OS DB migration service from SAP.

Hi,

Even though you have same DB, you are changing to different operating system. So as per definition, If there is change in os or db its called as heterogeneous system copy.

Thanks

Hi,

As per the definition:

During a heterogeneous system copy, the operating system or the database system is

changed. Migration is a synonym for heterogeneous system copy.

If either OS or DB is changed, its a heterogeneous system copy.

Hi,

It depends on whether you change your os from big endian to small endian or not.

I am not quite sure whether linux power is big endian or not.If it is then it will be a heterogenous system copy since linux x86 is a small endian.
