Material Determination (Substitution)

Hello,

I have maintained a substitution reason in transaction OVRQ with:

- Strategy blank (Automatic)

- Outcome blank (Item will be replaced)

- Substitution Category blank.

In VB12, for Material AAA there are 2 alternative materials:

1. Material AAA itself

2. Material BBB.

Material entered:

AAA

Alternative materials:

1. AAA

2. BBB

Material AAA does not have stock while BBB has.

When I am entering material AAA when creating an order in VA01, it is always being substituted by the first alternative material.

In this case, by AAA itself.

How can the material AAA be replaced automatically by the material (in alternative materials) which has stock?

Hi

Check in Material master if availability check is updated for mat BBB.

Also check if you hav specified the reason for substitution.

The issue is that the first alternative material replaces the material entered.

case 1:

Material entered

AAA

Alternative materials:

AAA

BBB

In this case with strategy blank and outcome blank, Material AAA in VA01 is replaced by Material AAA.

However, Material AAA does not have stock.

case 2:

Material entered

AAA

Alternative materials:

BBB

AAA

In this case with strategy blank and outcome blank, Material AAA in VA01 is replaced by Material BBB.

Material BBB has stock.

How can we make the material entered in VA01 be substitued with an alternative material which has tock?

As per case 1, Material AAA should be replaced by BBB which is the second alternative and has stock.

Hi ,

Please check MRP indicator in VB12 . Double click on the record then in the next screen you will find the MRP Indicator.

The MRP indicator displays the alternative material for which a subitem can be created in case a requirement can't be met. Material requirements planning uses the subitem to determine the requirement shortage

Hi Sanjay,

I ticket the indicator for Material AAA in alternative materials.

But when I enter the material AAA quantity 2 in VA01 the Standard Order: Availability Control screen appears showing open quantity 2, confirmed quantity 0.

I do not want this screen to appear.

I want the material to be substituted by BBB as BBB has stock.

When I put Outcome A in OVRQ, the material BBB is displayed below AAA as a subitem.

But I do not want AAA to be displayed.

Material AAA should be replaced by BBB when I enter AAA in an order.
