SAP GUI 7200.2.6.1062 intermittent installation problem.

After upgrading aprox. 300 clients from 640 to SAP Client 720 Patch level 6, and since around two weeks ago around 8 people (could be more) got the following error message when logging in.

Error: Service "?" unknown

[Date]

Release 720

Component NI (Network interface), version 40.

rc = - 3, Detail NiErrSet

Problem looks like it happens on win 7 x86 and x64 clients

It doesint help reinstalling exacly the same way as other working clients.

We noticed a big diffirence with these clients.

If you look at system entry properties->network

Working clients have "Activate Secure Network Communication" checked with a SNC Name and "Maximum Security Settings Avalable"

For Clients that has the problem the "Activate Secure Network Communication" is greyed out and we cannot use this option.

We have tride replacing the saplogon.ini, and the services, sncgss32.dll files without results.

Just out of curiousity, what are the encryption types on the Windows 7 machines set for?

We had issues early on in testing that by default Windows 7 machines had most, if not all the various encryption types disabled and all SSO connections would not work on them. We had to enable these through a GPO.

Windows settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > Security options > Network security:Configure encryption types allowed for kerberos

They where set to Not Defined. Windows defualt.
