Problem with EHP Installer NW 7.02 with SPS 8

I included NW 702 SPS 8 in my EHP installation (7.01 to 7.02) and it failed in step downtime phase RSFILLGENSETC.

702 Basis SP 8 changed tx SGEN and the EHP installer does not work with the new SGEN.

I guess a possible work-around would be to use "manual selection" mode of EHPI and deselect automatic SGEN run, but I retried with SPS 7 instead.

Hello experts,

I am on the same step, during a downtime upgrade to EHP5 and SP8, I'm trying the workaround "manual selection" without Sgen.

Did someone solve this error by another way ?

Thanks and Regards

I haven't found any information regarding the new tx SGEN, but with upgrading to EHP5 we have to use the new SGEN version. Is there a way back to use the old friendlier one?

The new Job Monitor does not show that detailed information like before, the selection of modules is buggy (selection jumps always back to the top), the help documentation has not been updated...

What exact error did you get?

As SGEN looks different in 7.02 SP 8 and the EHP install was successful with SPS 7 I concluded that the SGEN redesign could be the cause.

Hi,

Could you login to the SAP system and check job log for 'RSFILLGENSETC' in SM37 tcode?

Might provide more details. Also check ST22, SM21 for any errors.

Hi,

I had to restore the database and start again with the EHP install (and support package stack 7 instead of 8), so I can't tell the exact text of the job log, but it did not contain anything helpful.

There were no shortdumps.

The problem is solved for me, the system is running fine and I will import SPS 8 at a later time. I just posted it as information for other admins planning an EHP install and for SAP, as I can't create a customer message.

Best regards,

Sebastian
