Hi,

the parameter DedicatedServerTaskUKTs is not in the normal Docs (SAPNet/Online Help).

I assume it was formerly EnableMultipleServerTaskUKT.

But has the meaning of yes/no switched?

Jan

Hello Natalia,

thanks for your reply.

All I wanted to point to is,

that DedicatedServerTaskUKTs is not documented in the SAP notes, so you can'T search for it in the notes.

And if you look for EnableMultipleServerTaskUKT in a 7.8.02.21 MAXDB, there is none, but the SAP Notes tells one to change it ...

Best regards

Hi Jan,

here comes the somewhat complete picture concerning the parameter

EnableMultipleServerTaskUKT

:

the parameter was replaced by TWO new parameters -

DedicatedServerTaskUKTs

and

MaxServerTaskUKTs

. With these two parameters it is possible to configure the distribution of server tasks over multiple UKTs more flexible.

This is not yet reflected in our notes - we will do it asap as I already wrote (btw. the explanation for this parameter EnableMultipleServerTaskUKT is even wrong).

The original parameter EnableMultipleServerTaskUKT is not completely gone but marked 'hidden'. You can still see and change this parameter using dbmcli commands

param_directget

and

param_directput

. And changing this parameter implicitely changes the two new parameters accordingly.

HTH,

Steffen

Hello Jan,

1.

DBM command:

param_getexplain DedicatedServerTaskUKTs

'YES': The server tasks will run in a dedicated set of UKTs

'NO': User and server tasks will share a set off UKTs

param_getexplain EnableMultipleServerTaskUKT

'YES': in case of MaxCPUs > 0 the server tasks may use up to MaxCPUs UKTs

'NO': all server tasks will share a single UKT

2. What is the version of your database?

3. Connect to the database using DB studio.

Run the Administration using DBM user

Go to the parameters Tab, select View All

It's "Support" parameter:

DedicatedServerTaskUKTs

Review the SAP notes:

1364181 Feature list for liveCache/MaxDB 7.8

1006496 Feature list for liveCache/MaxDB 7.7

to see in what version of the database it was introduced with reference on PTS.

4. Are you SAP customer?

If yes => search the SAP notes for EnableMultipleServerTaskUKT

parameter settings information/recommendation from SAP.

This parameter is well explained in the SAP notes.
