Restrict Optimizer run to a particular Optimizer Server ID

Hi There,

We have two business groups that use optimizer, there are total 4

Optimizer threads available.

We want to restrict the optimizer run in background by Optimization

Server ID to make only two threads available per business group.

From what I have read and seen so far, Background Optimizer Run

does NOT have any provision to input Optimization Server Identifier.

Is there any work around to achieve this?

Hi Kiran,

Have you considered using different Parallel Processing Profiles( with application u2013 Optimization ) and Using different Server groups ?

This PPP can be assigned in background jobs . To use different profiles ( and severs) for different jobs.

Hello Datta,

I tried using the Parallel Processing Profiles with Server Group but it did NOT work. Per SAP "This will work during the steps 1 & 3. For the optimizer engine itself (step 2), this will not be used."

(Step 1 is the process where we collect all the necessary

data required for the optimizer run, like master data, demands, and all

information.

Step 2, is the process where the optimizer engine finds the solution

based on the input provided in step 1. This is done in the Optimizer

server.

Step 3, is where the results are received from the engine and

the orders are created in the livecache. These are the 3 steps during

the optimizer run.).
