Priority in validation and substitution for the same item

Hello FI experts,

I have a small query, which I am not able to get resolved after reading so many materials. If both validation and substitution is defined at the same call up point for same item, then which takes priority?

As far as my knowledge goes, it will be validation as without validating the filed, any substitution should not happen.

Please help.

Validation always goes after Substitution. Because values need to be substituted first before going to be validated.
