running smd agent install on sm4 host

I am trying to run the SMD agent install on the (LINUX) solution manager 4 machine. SMD is installed (in maintenance mode). Now I am trying to install SDM agent, using <sid>adm group sapsys (is this correct). The install is throwing the following error:

STEP 7: checking P4 Connection and SMD Registration

P4 Connection succeeded but SMD Agent Registratio failed

Root exception is: com.sap.engine.services.jndi.persistent.exceptions.NameNotFoundException:

Oject not found in lookup of smdserver

What object? Am I missing a step? HELP!

When I re-ran a new install. rather than continuing an existing one, the SMD agent install says it worked. When I sign on to http://myserver:myport/smd/admin and click on agent admin or monitored systems, the list is blank! Shouldn't I see the new agent?

Got this resolved...as you wrote it was the maintenance mode and then simply needed to refresh the page.

retryed with SMD server NOT in maintenance mode. Same results. I must be missing a step.

Hi,

This is typically a problem when the SMD Server IS under maitenance mode please double check, and desactive the maintenance mode.
