Oracle on HP Unix (Itanium platform)

Dear All,

We have SAP ECC 6 and Database is Oracle 10g on HP-UX 11.31.

HP Unix is on Itanium platform.

I go thru the below link.

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/tech/news/hardware/HP-Oracles-Itanium-move-shameless/articleshow/...

Will it create any oracle support problem in future for existing customer. Will it be advisable to procure Itanium based server for oracle database?

As we plan to go for further upgradation or DR than advisable to choose this platform?

Regards,

Nirav

As stated on

[original link is broken]

there will be no issues for the current systems, they will be supported.

There will, however, be no Oracle 12 on HP-UX/Itanium so the current version (11g) is the latest one to be supported.

Hi,

Yes, its true. Oracle will no more provide new oracle version on IA servers. Same has been updated in SAP note 1575609.

Thanks
