I wonder what is the purpose to have a node called heuristics in the left panel Workstation Investigator?
I did some research on Google about Heuristics in Java, seems it is mentioned frequently but I still
do not know exactly why it is called heuristics which literally means expertise in certain area.
So what is the purpose of this node?
Thanks a lot!
Hello,
How Heuristics Metrics Calculated in Introscope
Each heuristic has a set of baselines that it uses to determine what normal behavior is for that the following Key Performance Indicators:
A. Frontends and Backends:
u2022Response time
u2022Errors
u2022Stalls
B. JVM and App Server:
u2022CPU (only when the platform monitor is available)
u2022Number of pending requests (WLS only)
u2022Number of available JDBC connections
u2022Number of reporting agents
We use baseline algorithms to determine what is normal.
u2022Based on the Holtu2019s Linear Exponential Smoothing algorithm.
So the set of base lines gives it is "Expertise" to determine what is normal.
I hope this helps your understanding.
Regards,
Paul
