cannot reach admin mode or cannot bring dbonline

Hello All,

We have a sap netweaver system running on linux X86_64 bit suse 11 enterprise version, on max db 7.7.6.10

recently this system gone down and when we are trying to connect to databse and reaching admin mode we get this error

dbmcli on ANR > db_admin

"ERR

-24994,ERR_RTE: Runtime environment error

20090,Check knldiag! Kernel exited with '-4' before reaching ADMIN state"

can anybody help with this. let me know in case you need any info.

Well - the system says it all: check knldiag

go to your run directory /sapdb/data/wrk/<SID>

and execute "protconf > knldiag.txt"

Check the resulting knldiag.txt file.

You can also use DBMGUI or DBStudio to read that logfile.

unforunately the file knldiag.txt is empty. any alternative.

Did you actually do as the error message suggested and check the knldiag file of the db instance in question to figure out whether anything peculiar happened? Personally, I just had to deal with this error a while ago after database not being completely / correctly created, but that seems not likely to be the problem in your case.
