Results of the quality insp. not transferred to the batch classification

Hi Experts,

We are facing one issue regarding batch classification of characteristics of inspection lot. After production, finished material goes to quality inspection and inspection lot is created for the batch of the material. After result recording of the characteristics, UD is done.

Upon UD, system updates the status as UD ICCO SPCO CLAS STUP for the end application, the results of the quality inspection then get transferred to the batch classification automatically. Also assignment of MIC to a class characteristic has been made at the time of creation of MIC. This is the perfect case.

Now, for the same material with same inspection origin and inspection type, for some cases this classification does not get updated automatically for the end application. So we have to maintain the value manually in the classification of batch in MSC2N. In such type of cases system status becomes UD ICCO SPCO STUP (so here CLAS is missing)

Can anyone please tell us what could be possible reasons due to which this is happening and when CLAS status gets updated.

Looking forward to positive response

Regards

N Kumar

Hi,

This is because all linked MICs in your Result Recording has not been filled for Results and valuated.

At the time saving UD, System may have asked you to valuate "Non-valuated QM chars" and allows you to enter value of that particular pending MICs.

When all linked (Reference Chars) MICs in Inspection Plan, which are also in Batch Classification are not recorded in Result Recording and also not valuated at the time of UD, System will update Lot Status as UD ICCO SPCO STUP in general.

When all linked (Reference Chars) MICs in Inspection Plan, which are also in Batch Classification are recorded and valuated in Result Recording or at the time of UD, System will update Lot Status as UD ICCO SPCO CLAS STUP in general.

Please try at your end. Hope this will help you.

Hi Tanuj,

Thanks for your valuable reply.

In addition of that, one customization setting The indicator 'batch valuation without mat. spec.' was missing.

Now i am able to do batch classification automatically

Thanks again

Hi

I got a new problem regarding batch classification. I am able to do batch classification automatically for the bulk material(SF mat). Now my process is, We create a process order at SKU level(FM) where we add packing material to bulk material. Here (SKU mat) batch is same as of bulk material. As soon as we do the GRN against process oreder of SKU material, it goes to QC but without result recording( not required).

Here, the result of batch classification should automatically transfer to the SKU material but it is happening only for few cases.

Can anyone please explain, is there any config/master data setting I am missing. what could be the possible reason for the same.

Thanks and Regards

Hi,

If you want to have Batch Classfication of your bulk Material to be available to Final Material's Batch Classification, explore Batch Derivation concept of PP.

Hi Tanuj,

Thanks for the reply.

But what I observerd, for some of the cases Batch Classfication of bulk Material is getting transfered to Final Material's Batch Classification. and for few cases it is not. Further, For the same Final material, for some batches it happend perfectly but for few cases not.

I also checked, batch derivation is not activated.

Can you please suggest what can be possible reasons for the same.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Are you sure it is transferred? Following points may help you:

1. While confirmation of FG Mateial, user is getting any chance to create Batch and update Batch Classfication.

2. Whether Standard Chars like LOBM_UDCODE is available in both material's Batch Classification.

3. Whether you have any Z development that updates Batch Classfication thru BDC or any other method.

Just have a look at Change documents in Classfication tab in MSC3N.

Hi

Here is the steps and check-points for batch classification during UD, please check your data and settings through that one by one.

1. a class char. is created with CT04. This class char. must have the

following definition

a) type NUM

b) type CHAR and a selected set assigned in the tabstrip 'value' >

other value check > catalog char.

2. this class char. has to be linked to a master inspection char. (QS21)

3. This master inspection char. has to be included in an inspection

plan (if you do an inspection with plan) or in a mterial

specification (if you do an inspection with material spec.)

4. The class char. has to be assigned to a class of class-type 022 or

023.

5. This class has to be assigned to the material master

6. The indicator 'batch valuation without mat. spec.' should be set

in the customizing-view V_TQSS1 (plant-dependent QM-settings)

7. An inspection lot has to be created

8. Results have to be recorded and closed (status of the char. has to

be '5' !!).

9. If you work with inspection points, the batch classification should

be carried out, when the results recording is saved (according to

the link, defined in step 2)

10. If you do not work with inspection point, the batch-classification

should be carried out, when the usage-decision is done and the

stock-posting is done (if lot is stock-relevant).
