Preventing Negative Stocks in Storage Type 100

Our desire is to not allow negative stocks in storage type 100. We have removed the check box in configuration that allows negative stock per storage type for storage type 100.

Our process is:

1. Production order is released, TR is created.

2. TO is created from TR.

3. TO is confirmed to destination storage type 100

4. Production order is backflushed from storage type 100.

The problem we are having is that you can backflush the production order BEFORE the TO is confirmed to 100, and drive 100 negative even though we have the storage type set to not allow negatives.

Is there any way to stop the production order from backflusing (261) storage type 100 negative?

Thanks

Checkin OMJ1, if negative stocks are allowed for your plant and storage location.

It is not negative at the storage location and plant level. It is a negative stock at the storage type level.

It is the following situation:

  • Material XYZ total stock in SLOC 1234 of 100 pieces.

  • Material XYZ has stock in bin YYYY of 40 pieces, and bin ZZZZ of 60 pieces.

  • Material XYZ is needed for a production order, so a TR is created.

  • Before the TO is created from the TR to bring the stock from bin YYYY to storage type 100, the backflush occurs on the production order.

The result of the backflush is a negative stock in storage type 100, even though config states that storage type 100 cannot go negative.

The desired outcome is an error on the production order backflush step to not allow the negative.

Thanks

Did you check your storage type 100 "storage type definition: details"?

the allow negative stocks should not be selected in this view, if it is not perhaps activating user exits for the storage type is required...

The same problem has been raised and solved on this forum on 24 of June, 2011. The solution was based on the explanation provided in OSS note 489754.

Additionally, on SAP online help you can also find the solution how to prevent negative stock in interim storage type:
