we have installed EHP5. SAP back end and Portal we have installed

While installing portal we have selected only below options from list

AS JAVA

EP Administration

EP Core

Apart from this there are other options , not selected when we installed.

BI

NWDI

Now we want to install NWDI. When we tried to install the process is starting from first. And if i select only NWDI and click next it's giving error message Dependency of AS JAVA. But AS JAVA has already installed.

Any sugession how to install the compnenet NWDI.

Shankar.

Hi Shankar,

You can deploy the NWDI componet (CMS, CBS and DTR) in the server. Download the DI_CMS, DI_CBS and DI_DTR sca files from service market place with same version and patch level as server. then deploy the sca file using SDM or JSPM.

Then do the initail configuration in http://<host>:<port>/nwa

Once initial configuration done, access the NWDI administration usign http://<host>:<port>/devinf

Hi Arun,

Thanks for your reply. But how to install NWDI alone from SAPINST.exe

Initially we have installed the Software Units

AS Java NetWeaver Application Server Java

EP Core NetWeaver Enterprise Portal Core Components

EP NetWeaver Enterprise Portal

And out of this there are two more Software Units which have not checked when initially installed

BI Java NetWeaver BI Java

DI NetWeaver Development Infrastructure

Now how to install DI alone using SAPINST.exe.

For more clear i have sent screen shots to your yahoo id arun_jaise plz check and sugest. I am doing installation first time.

Regards,

Shankar.

Hi Shankar,

Are you trying to install NWDI usage type in the existing system using SAPINST? That will not work. No way. You can only install additional usage types using JSPM only.

If you want to install NWDI in a new system, then you can use SAPINST and you also have to select AS JAVA. AS Java is a prerequisite to installing NWDI or any other usage type that is based on Java stack.

Shitij

Hi Shitij Bagga,

Yes, i am trying to install it using SAPINST.exe That time it's saying dependency AS Java file need to be select. But it's already installed.

In existing installed system only i am trying to install NWDI. i.e software component

DI - NetWeaver Development Infrastructure

As you suggested, If it has to be deploy using SDM or JSPM, what level stack we need to download and deploy it.

Plz share your mail so that i can send you my system stack details.

Hi Shankar,

You should also refer to the AS Java installation guide for more information on this and the post-installation steps to be executed for DI usage type. There will be a section called "Installation of Additional Software Units or Usage Types in an Existing SAP System". This section will tell you the exact procedure and the packages that you need to download for the concerned usagy types. Download till the SP level that is currently on your existing system.

Deploy using JSPM and the opiton to select will be to Install New Usage Type.

Then, you execute DI specific post installation steps as per the same installation guide. This will include running the DI based tasks from Template configuration Wizard.

This is all the info one can provide you. From here, you need to study the topic in the guide carefully and download the correct files and deploy them.

Shitij

Hi Arun,

Thanks for your reply. But why SPAINST is not allowing to install it on existing server. I hope you have seen my screen shots which i have sent to you.

It will become complex again downloading and deploying separatly which we have already having in SAPINST.

Other than this way i.e downloading and deploying using SDM or JSPM, is there any other way to install using SAPINST itself like addon.

Regards,

Shankar.

This has already been mentioned above, so just to reiterate -

You cannot install a new Usage type on an existing system with SAPINST.

You have to use JSPM/SDM.

It may seem complex to you, but that's the way it is and it makes total sense.

Hi Shankar,

As I already said earlier also, SAPINST is not the right away. Fact is, it can only install a system one time but after that it can do nothing. JSPM is THE ONLY WAY you can deploy additional usage types.

And it is not complcated at all. You are only thinking it is complex because you missed it in SAPINST. But the procedure is straightforward. Follow it or leave it.

Otherwise uninstall your existing system and reinstall it with the correct usage types if you don't want to go through the JSPM way.

Shitij

Hi Arun,

Thanks for your reply. I have downloaded the files and deployed using SDM. And started creating one track.

Now i am having one problem while creating track, in below step.

Check In and Import Required Software Components

In this step i have strucked. When i see the path

SAP_BUILDT.sca, SAP_JTECHS.sca, and SAPJEE.

sca) are located. (<drive>:\usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\global\CMS_CBS\plugins

I am not seeing any folder 'plugins' inside CMS_CBS folder. There is one folder in this 'cleanup'.

In document they have given the process as mentioned below for this step.

Go to the directory where the archives (SAP_BUILDT.sca, SAP_JTECHS.sca, and SAPJEE.

sca) are located. (<drive>:\usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\global\CMS_CBS\plugins)

Copy the files to the relevant Transport directory <drive>:\usr\sap\JTrans\CMS\inbox.

The Transport directory is defined in the Landscape Configuratoru2019s u201CDomain Datau201D tab.

But with out doing above step, i am able to import the SC in NWDS from NWDI. And here i want access the standard SAP ESS applications leave request. I need to modify the standard application. But it's not showing any standard applications when i do import in NWDS.

Plz suggest.

Regards,

Shankar.
