4 TB is a HUGE database, I'm not really sure whether it's a good idea to verify the full database every day and if it's possible to speed it up.

If you back up your database using RMAN the DBV is done implicitly so you don't have to run it again.

Ok, so your CheckDB is running for more than 8hrs on a 4TB Oracle Database.

A couple more questions,

1. Why are you cancelling the jobs?

2. Did you increase the tracelevel and look in the logs

3. Can you post the output logs from the CheckDB, which you will find in either DB13 or DB14

4. Are your statistics up to date on the system

5. What SAP Notes have you looked at in resolving this

Thanks

Hi Chirs

1. Why are you cancelling the jobs?

Ans : Becuase the job is for longer period and it affecting the performance. This also impacting the other jobs extraction and slow the background job

2. Did you increase the tracelevel and look in the logs

Ans : No

3. Can you post the output logs from the CheckDB, which you will find in either DB13 or DB14

4. Are your statistics up to date on the system

Ans : Yes

5. What SAP Notes have you looked at in resolving this

Ans: Still no Note has been applied , because no note got me to resolve the issue.

Brijesh,

A few questions

When you say it is taking a long time, what do you mean by a long time, is it hours, days ?

Also what is your platform, is it Oracle? As that will determine the troubleshooting methods

Have you tried running your checkDB from the command line or increasing the logging so determine where the process gets stuck.

Can you pinpoint when it started to take a long time to do the checks, for example 20 days ago the time taken to check the database went from 30mins to over 5 hours

Not to worry you, but when I have seen database checks taking a long time, there can be corruption in the database somewhere.

Thanks

Chris
