Hello Pooja,

are you following the Solution Manager EHP1 upgrade / update guide?

http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000718044&_OBJECT=011000358700000291932009E

It looks like one of the first preparations you need to make is to install kernel 7.01, but it's better to read the guide for more details.

You may search for SAP Kernel 7.01 in https://websmp208.sap-ag.de/swdc -> Search for Software Downloads. The Solution Manager EHP1 works on 64 bit, I think you may probably need a 64 bit unicode kernel, but please check this.

Best regards,

Miguel Ariñ

Hi,

In order to upgrade solution manager to EHP1, first you need to upgrade it to SP17, then you need to upgrade kernel to 701 release and then you need to patch system with EHP1.

As far as message for PI_Basis is concerned then to install PI Basis on release 701, you should have SAP_Basis patch level at 701 SP2.

In order to upgrade your kernel, you can follow SAP note 19466.

Thanks

Sunny

Hello,

Could you please point out a document that says that you have to go to SP17 before updating to EHP1? The single step upgrade seems to be supported due to the fact that Maintenance Optimizer calculates a direct queue to EHP1 as of SP15. Please let me know if I am missing something.

Please check SAP note 1169247 which states as below:

Java stack requirements

A direct JSPM update to Solution Manager 7.0 Java Stack 18 and

higher is not possible from some of the Java stacks. Therefore,

proceed as follows: First, use the JSPM update to update the Java

stack only to Solution Manager 7.0 Java stack 17 and then update to

the relevant Solution Manager 7.0 Enhancement Package 1 Java stack.

Take the numbering into account: Solution Manager 7.0 Java stack 17

contains NetWeaver 7.0 Java stack 16.

Thanks

Hello Sunny,

It does look strange to be able to generate a stack XML for an impossible upgrade. But then again,I have seen stranger things

Thanks for the valuable info.

Hello Pooja

Did you get the correct files through the maintenance optimizer?

You don't seem to have all packages you should have.

I would recommend you make sure your maintenance optimizer is functioning properly (check the maintenance optimizer SAP notes) and perform a proper maintenance optimizer run to get a proper XML file for the update.

Kind regards

Tom
