Hello:
My client is implementing MDM 7.1 for Customers, Materials and Vendors.
We have two systems installed (DEV and QA)
1) DEV server is local (LAN)
2) QA server is remote and outsourced to another company (WAN)
The issue is that the performance of Data Manager, Import Manager or Syndicator in the QA systems (WAN) is much slower than development systems (LAN) with the same number of records.
Has anyone implemented successfully MDM in WAN scenarios (remote servers)? - or is it recommended only to have MDM on local servers (LAN).
Any information is greatly appreciated.
Best Regards,
-Arturo Blasi.

All MDM servers (including MDS, MDSS, and MDIS) and DBMS servers should be installed in one LAN with a backbone of 1 Gbps. A network connection between MDM servers and MDM clients (MDM Data Manager and MDM API) should be at least 100 Mbps.
Running MDM on virtual machine can cause a perfirmance issue and not recommanded for production.
You can check SAP note 1070760 for more info.
Hope this help
thx

the LAN / WAN is not an issue as long as u have 100+ mbps
on a second thought -- let all the servers be in the LAN itself but have a remote desktop login to the server desktop (thru VPN/CITRIX) could be easier as well ..
thanks

Hi Arturo,
As per SAP recommnedations; Network connection between MDM servers and MDM clients (MDM Data Manager, Import Manager, Syndicator, Web Application Server, and MDM API) should be at least 100 Mbps.
The MDM clients should all be in a LAN together with the MDM server.
