Estimated Time of Arrival

We are looking to identify scenarios, industries and best practices around pushing Estimated Time of Arrival messaging to the consumer. This would apply to any sales and service or dispatch type organizations that deals with numerous customer stops (if possible, high volume).

For example, on any given day, a route delivery truck will leave the distribution center to deliver and sell to 60+ stops. These stops are organized in a sequence based on customer selected delivery window (such at 3-5 PM) and driving the least number of miles. The driver is supposed to follow this sequence. If the driver follows the sequence a system generated u201C30 minute ETAu201D message will be pushed to the consumer based on the 1) number of stops the truck is from the customer (three) and 2) whether the truck would be able to arrive within the delivery window.

There are a few issues that impact the above scenario:

u2022A lot of this is dictated on the driver adhering to the sequence of the route day, running the stops in order and making all delivery windows

u2022In addition to sequence, the driver needs to be within 1.5 miles of where the system anticipates the truck at the time through geo-location (breadcrumb data collection)

u2022At times messages are sent in error or not at all because a driver might be held up making a large sale and taking longer to pull product from the truck

Hi,

Configuring route determination and scheduling is a std solution which will not be enough for such a complex delivery scenario.

Why not consider a direct store delivery solution?

Hope this helps.
