Hi,
My question might sound Silly, but i need this info..
i had this PI guy coming to me and saying me to generate a webservice so that he can use it in PI.
I have MDM repository ready.
My Understanding is..
WSG is a URL where i mention the details of mdm server, repository name, table and fields(create, update options selected), at the end it will say, web service generated successfully.
Here, Should i need to download the webservice(i guess it will be a .EAR file !! But Not sure) and provide that file to the PI team so that they deploy it and run it in PI !!! is this right???
Questrion 2-
Not sure how i get acces to this webservice generator, what i have done is ...
asked the basis team to provide access and URL for WSG..
i got URL..
http://XYZsd201.sap.XYZ.com:50000/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/tcesiespwsnavui/WSNavigator http://XYZ201.sap.XYZ.com:50000/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/tcesiespwsnavui/WSNavigator
The problem is even the basis does not know what WSG mean..they just throwed this..
Is this the right one that i need to use for generating WS for my requirement above??
In one of the documentation i learnt that WS can be generated through the following URL .. http://SERVER:PORT/mdm/wsgenerator
(i tried this: page cannot be opened)
Which one is the right one??
Can anyone please Throw some light..
Kind Regards
Eva
Hello Eva
Both of them
first one
is standard SAP MDM Web Services functionality
Second
New SAP MDM functionality
for working with different repositories you can generate own Web Service for connection to repositories data
Use second for your work

as John said somewhere
use the web service generator wizard to get the WS that u can provide the PI guy.
deploy the sca in the WAS - and then u could launch the WSG and create the required WS (CRUD)

Hi Eva
Web service generator is a wizardbased tool used for generating the web services which can be used irrespective of technologies.
Please read the below pdf which explains the process step by step and is very useful.
Also before using this tool we need to deploy it first. Please refer to below link on steps involved.

Thanks all..
i got it right.

Finally i received the above link which is working fine.
After generating the WS, it asked me whther you are willing to depoly, i proceeded furthur by selecting a local host which defaulted the PI system in its settings and made it available for PI.
Thanks folks for your responses.
Kind Regards
Eva
EVA -
You can give second one to your PI Colleague for use as a WSDL ( Web service defination Language)
http://XYZ201.sap.XYZ.com:50000/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/tcesiespwsnavui/WSNavigator
Please check this is the link whcih comes out when you click on .ear file and that WS link can be pull at WS Run time environment.
Also let us know your findings.

WSG is a tool to generate ws for MDM repository.
you just have to deploy two SCAs, then you will have it.
