querying through universe designer doesn't fetch data records

Hi Folks,

When we query for records through Tools -> Universe Designer or through WebIntelligence -> Infoview we couldn't view the output and the query returns null data or vanishes abruptly.

The integration with database is working fine.We use SQL Server 2005 for this purpose.

Somehow we could see the same output in WebIntelligence Rich client alone. Help me where to rectify this.

The query panel window in Universe designer closes automatically when we run our query with objects.

That sounds more like an application issue than anything else.

IYou say you're getting problems on Designer query panel and via infoview but not via Webi Rich Client?

Is Webi RC working on the same client as Designer?

Hi,

Try this do the backup copy of universe and use the OLEDB connection options under Connections -> Microsoft -> SQL Server 2005. Then the connection type should be in secure, And also check your Java settings while you are using Java infoview.

Just a few ideas,

Have you tried running the same report in InfoView on a different computer?

Check the Java version of the computer where you are trying to run the report to be sure it is not too new. I don't think you said what BO version you were on, but you need to be sure the Java version on each computer is compatible with the version BO can use.

Can you clarify, when you run the report in InfoView, you say query panel disappears. Are you able to add and see all objects in the query panel? Do you get any error messages at all?

Thanks

Hi,

Yes we use the same input paramaeters for universe connection and SQLServer.

The connection type is ODBC.

Thanks for your reply.

Is the ODBC connection set up with the same user on local machine and server?

Actually, that doesn't matter.

When you say it disappears, what happens?

Hello,

Are you saying that you are seeing the data fine through Rich Client, but a problem with InfoView?

Can you explain in a little more detail what you are trying to do?

Try copying the SQL from the Webi query into SQL Server Query Manager and run it and see what you get or if you get an error.

Hope that helps,

Thanks

Hi ,

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah.. we are seeing the data fine through Rich Client, but a problem with InfoView as well as universe designer.

We are trying to develop a universe by using database in SQL Server and create reports out of it.

We successfully imported all the tables and checked loops, contexts and joins for validation and then started to check whether all the objects work fine.

we did this through QueryPanel in Universe Designer-> Tools.

No output came out of it. When we checked via Infoview we could see no data being returned(it's empty rows).

The same query works fine in SQL Server separately.

This occurs even for the e-fashion example bundled with the installation.

when we select Sales Revenue and Year we could get the results in Richclient but not in Infoview.

Can you shed some light?

Are you using the same username to log in to SSMS as you are using for your universe connection?

What connection type have you defined in the Universe, OLEDB? ODBC?
