Testing brbackup/backint whithout the db installed

Hello,

I would like to test that my backint config and licenses are ok.

My Sap and db instances are not fully installed yet.

I have done the following

  1. su - orasid

oradev 12% brbackup -p /var/tmp/initDEV.sap -m /var/tmp/testdir

BR0051I BRBACKUP 7.20 (13)

BR0055I Start of database backup: begecdwg.pff 2011-06-23 10.17.02

BR0484I BRBACKUP log file: /oracle/DEV/sapbackup/begecdwg.pff

BR0280I BRBACKUP time stamp: 2011-06-23 10.17.02

BR0301E SQL error -12545 at location BrDbConnect-2, SQL statement:

'CONNECT system/*******'

Error while trying to retrieve text for error ORA-12545

BR0310E Connect to database instance DEV failed

BR0280I BRBACKUP time stamp: 2011-06-23 10.17.02

BR0301E SQL error -12545 at location BrDbConnect-2, SQL statement:

'CONNECT system/*******'

Error while trying to retrieve text for error ORA-12545

BR0310E Connect to database instance DEV failed

BR0056I End of database backup: begecdwg.pff 2011-06-23 10.17.02

BR0280I BRBACKUP time stamp: 2011-06-23 10.17.02

BR0054I BRBACKUP terminated with errors

As it tries to do an offline backup, it tries to connect to the oracle db instance.

Is there a way, to perform a brbackup test without having to connect to the db instance?

If yes, which options shoudl I provide to brbackup?

Thanks in advance for your answer.

To test the brbackup you must have a database installed and running.
