Hello there,
We are planning to upgrade Oracle from 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.2 on AIX 5.3 POWER5 processor based systems.
Just would lik to know whether we can install Oracle 11.2.0.2 on AIX 5.3 POWER5.
According to ORACLE metalink 282036.1 , it says AIX 5.3 is supported on Power 7 based servers delivered in 2010 and no mention on POWER5
Any Ideas ???
Thans in advance for your help.
Roshan

Hi
Certifications on Oracle's My support Oracle website says that:
Oracle Database 11g Release 2 is certified for AIX 5.3, 6.1 and 7.1 on all Power Systems servers supported by
those versions of AIX.
Hope it helps you.
Regards

Hi Roshan,
We have upgraded 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.1 on AIX 5.3 POWER5 processor based systems as 11.2.0.2 was not avaiable at that time and upgrade completed successfully.
You need to install additional file set and install couple of Operating level patches as a pre-requisites for oracle 11G upgrade.
You can get all information in detail in oracle upgrade documentation.
Revert for any queries.
Good luck!!!!!
Regards,
Rajesh
