SAP BW Query as a data source for Universe

Hi Gurus

I was wondering if you can advise me that how many maximum number of sap bw bex queries can me use as a data source for one single universe.

I mean can we use multiple bex queries for single universe OR just one bex query per universe.

If yes then what is the best practice in the industry.

I would appreciate your response.

The options vary depending upon what version of BusinessObjects you are on.

With XI3, using just Designer, you're limited to one connection, i.e. one Bex Query

With XI3, using Data Federator, you can use multiple connections; I've not used Data Federator so cannot comment on performance, ease of use, etc.

With BO4.0, using the IDT tool, you can use multiple connections; the new universe design tool comes with built-in data federation - again, not got my hands on 4.0 yet so cannot comment on performance.

You're best talking to your SAP BO account manager and asking for a demo of 4.0 when it's possible for them to do so.

Hi,

I Must say , we can use one BEx Query per Universe, only, if you want to use different queries, for same set of data the best practice is to create a master query and then create a universe on top of it.
