Hello Gaurav Kumar Sharma

Buck-up the repositories and schemas, import/syndication maps - thit is standard procedure and if you want to have "hot" copy of your data you should to do it every day- it will be better solution.

Usually, for update just SAP MDM (not DBMS) ( we have done it every time since mdm 7.1 sp1) we do next:

Reading "update" note - because sometimes sap guys include some new functionality or change old

1) stop sap mdm server

2) made "hot" copies all data (repositories ,schemas, import/syndication maps)

3) start update process.

4) run sap mdm server

5) check repositories ,schemas, import/syndication maps - make some corrections if it need(according to sap notes) but usually all work fine

Somebody made two levels buck-up process ( one for sap mdm , another one for DBMS).

How often you will do buck-ups dependence from your sap mdm users activity.

Before you start the upgrade activities, read the complete Upgrade Guide, as it describes the upgrade process between service packs (SP) of MDM 7.1.

It is available at:
