Check the FAQ document. <a href="http://www.booksites.net/download/abap_objects/download.htm">www.IT-Minds.com => ABAP => Resources</a>

copies of these should be on disk 1 (FAQ_E.DOC).

Thanks for the replies guys!

I made some more progress though, in finding what is wrong. When I decided to search the whole log, I saw that much higher up there were a red error:

SAPCAR: error decompressing MBSDATA@.NDF

Turns out the sar file is at fault, allthough the installation continued, and that pointed me to a licensing issue.

I found this at SAPTechnology:

Cause and preconditions

In R/3 as of Release 4.5, the database library is no longer linked

statically for the executables but is loaded dynamically at runtime. If

this shared library cannot be loaded, the connect to the database fails

with the above message.

Solution

Set the environment variable "dbms_type" to the type of the database

(for example ora, inf, ada, and so on) and the environment variable

"DIR_LIBRARY" to the path under which the shared library can be found

(in general, the exe directory, thus /usr/sap//SYS/exe/run in UNIX

systems).
